Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

Opinions on the new CEO?

Any insight or observations on the new CEO? How he will impact the company?
He's made 2 posts about his first & second weeks, what do you think?

If AI can do your job, it will. Fewer humans are the plan.

I see attempts at change and cold blooded modernization while continuing being cheap.
Jumping on AI as the latest & greatest.

Some personnel changes, one that surprised me, which I hope made this former employee deeply consider their previous stances.

Any thoughts? I see frugal. Maybe there's fat to cut but this is a low paying industry already.

The Gallup survey is throwing money away. Not anonymous and places all the burden of the direct manager who doesn't have much impact on ever changing policies & direction.

The funniest was crowing about higher completion rates the second year. % of employees completing was higher. Number of employees completing it was lower because fewer employees working for the company.

They are hearing what they need to hear. They are not listening. The company is not full of unopinionated wallflowers. The messages are being relayed, but ignored. Notably, no survey has ever asked about what people think of leadership. Asking people what they think of their direct manager is meaningless.

Can someone please name the last CEO who has made any difference? Their job is to keep the board and shareholders happy.

I read something in the update where people said something positive about the company culture & he said that it was important that people hear what they need to hear. In a work environment that's not raining positivity on anyone but a need for improvement.

Is it too much to hope that he takes care of certain members of the leadership team?

words words words. can already see CEO moving people in who don't understand the business. not going to amount to much if TAS stays in place
