Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How are you slacking off?

How are there people who claim to only have enough work for a few hours? I don't buy it. Unless you are here through nepotism or cronyism, I really don't buy it. I am constantly overworked, as is everybody I work with. We've lost so many people to cuts in the last five years that there is always more work that needs to be done than the hours in which they are supposed to be done. I think people just like to troll and say they have nothing to do.

Bro, there is a lot of work in my department. They will be laying off people in Feb and I get my work done, on my timeline and not AT&T, because T no longer has the timeline to be efficient. Getting work done on time is a joke. Do your 8 hours ' worth of work. You do not have to work double, you are not paid enough for that.

I have 30 years in the company. The workload has never been balanced. Some groups always have nothing to do and others are swamped. Some VPs just understand how the game is played better than others.

I have things to do, but I used to do more.
I used to push myself to fill gaps and get code done to meet goals and dates, that’s over.
I do the bare minimum to not lose my job, just do what’s assigned to me, never volunteer for anything, never strive to excel.
Why?
Because they’re going to lay me off no matter what I do. They want me to move cross-country without any additional compensation.
So, I will look for another job and play the game, while doing basically nothing and collecting a paycheck.

Fu-k’em.

I got put on a project that had no enhancing work and nothing that currently needed done. So, yeah, I had a period where there just wasn't much work to do, but that is changing soon and we're going to be overloaded with work. I made sure to "work" my 8 hours by being on-line (or in the office) and always available, but put little effort into being busy. However, when CP came up with 50 hours of training, I was able to bust it out and get it done. And now the tidal wave of work (and not enough people) is about to hit.

Some weeks we are slammed, some weeks not so much. Some weeks are 80+hrs, some, well, I could have taken that week off, but I still have to sit at the office. Just the nature of the team I’m on. Slack off, nope, when it’s go time, we go hard, when it’s dead yeah, I try to stay busy and find things to do. Things can change on a dime for me.

We all need to mimic our fearless leader - work just like the Stink, and do as $hitty a job as he does!

You just cannot take a $500 lunch on the corp amex, take the corp jet to have your head polished, or come into work and host a pajama party!

"Haven’t worked a full day since stank announcement in May, haven’t worked two days in a row either."
Perhaps you are one of the reasons why there is a surplus (surplus meaning too many)!

If they don't have the head count to get the work done, it is your job to make sure it does not get done. Working yourself to death to cover for a 3-1 headcount deficit benefits no one, not you, not the stockholders, and ultimately not even the customer.
