Level 3+ HC reductions?

A lot of chatter and recent commentary about ongoing HC reductions. I've not heard of any Level 3+ reductions - that's typical but any word on management level consolidation?

They've already gotten rid of people in my department and replaced them with contractors making half our salary. Another wave is coming for my department in the next few months and everyone will be replaced with contractors. We barely have enough people to keep up the work we have now but they keep trimming away without replacements. I feel bad for contractors when things get real busy but I can't wait for them to crash and burn. Best part is they offered to rehire us back as contractors for less money, no benefits, no paid holidays, no sick or vacation time.

5th lines were all offered $500,000 retention bonuses because they were concerned about the amount of retention.

I heard from reliable source that focus is on L3s and span issues with L2s.

Yet VPs still being protected — it’s about politics and being liked not performance at that level
Of they don’t make their goals, they cut heads below them to keep the themselves afloat

Wonder when board will realize that T has too many ineffective 5s…

Knew a couple of level 3’s who took packages back in the day when there were real incentives. Both left during a downsizing exercise. However both stayed for a few months after that exercise date because they were asked to stay to help with a lot of transition work. No idea if that is normal. However if that is happening we should start hearing about some folks at that level and above leaving the company.

They are going to replace all employees with contractors. That is the end game.

Eliminate two levels of “VP’s” asap. Four levels is utterly asinine.

There are about 4K level three and four employees with direct reports managing about 380K employees and contractors below them. There is definitely room to trim some fat; but it is nothing like the amount of fat that exists with our contractor population, which is currently 222K people.

AT&T is too top heavy. They need to eliminate the SVP, the AVP, and AD levels. If everyone else has to do the work of two to three people then so can the executive level. AT&T's entire executive structure and idea of silos is in contradiction to the recommendations by Harvard Business School. With such a management structure AT&T will never catch up to its competition.

Level 3 and 4 are no different from other worker bees. I was a level 3. The more protected status starts from level 5, the first executive rank.
