Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Finding out about layoffs here

It worries me when I have to find out there were layoffs at U.S. Bank on a forum instead of hearing it through official channels. This makes me feel thoroughly unsafe. It means any one of us could be hit at any time and the rest of us probably wouldn't even know it. How is that okay?

Companies do not to pay certain federal taxes if their hire Indian OPT students. So they get tax break . OPT students get their degree in USA. The large Indian tech form guys work for peanuts making half your salary and doing same work . Let’s get real . Americans need to graduate in STEM degrees if they have any chance to compete in technology. Go to any graduate school and look at the students in Computer Science and Engineering schools and. 99% are Asian. Stop complaining and get higher education if you want to compete in the long run. CEO of Google, Microsoft, VP of USA and Prime Minister of UK are all from India. Even Nikki Haley’s parents came from India. All came from modest backgrounds . The only difference is they freaking went to college and got Masters degrees, not some liberal arts degrees.

The merger and investment into nCino are the cause of the layoffs. nCino is an all-in one cloud based banking platform. Once is fully implemented across all business lines, which includes consumer business banking there will be more layoffs to come. The birth of WCIBO (Wealth, Commercial, Institutional Banking Operations) is the consolidation of business lines. Thus, I suspect gives SVPs opportunities to look for opportunities where expenses can be cut. Plus the continued outsourcing jobs to India and elsewhere.

And the technology is pitiful. None of the systems work the way they are supposed to. I don't understand how senior leadership expects anyone to get anything done.

Each year USB brings in college grads or existing employees for technical training. It's great for the students but each student needs to start looking for a new job at the 2.5 year mark. This is no longer a destination employment company. Take your expertise and increase your income by 40%.

The senior leader don’t share because they fear it promotes disharmony!

Even department managers don’t share that someone is leaving on their own…just hurries them out the door and say something after staff starts asking questions.

I am greatly disappointed in this company and could not recommend it to anyone. We can’t keep staff, we can’t provide equipment on time to new hires, our training is poor, and afterwards manager support disappears. I’ve been here almost 10 yrs, and I don’t see any reason for staying. It’s gotten to be dehumanizing.

Dude, fellow employees are more reliable on what is really going on. All it takes is one slip and the rumor mill is born. 90% Of the time there’s truth behind this rumors.

There is no fire without smoke, and there is no smoke without fire.

It's not okay, but it's their way.
The way you find out a colleague left the organization is when emails bounce back to you.
Personally, I do not trust the management team. The higher they are on the org chart, the less trustworthy they are.
Watch your back as no one will watch it for you. Update your resume and look for a new job before you have to look for a new one.

They don’t care about us and never have. The United States gives money to countries who only hire their citizens but yet the United States will offshore jobs to India, issue Visas to people from other countries to come here and take our jobs and nothing is done about it. We can’t forgive student debt but give billions to Ukraine who gives their people free education. We have thousands of students that graduate with Tech degrees in the US but bring in Indians to take the jobs instead. It’s all rigged, I love all people from everywhere, but simply showing how the US is failing us all. Just like USB is failing us.
