Your ignorance is showing. Core union employees have very good job protection.
I am unwilling to move to Dallas as it is not worth leaving my family and friends, even if it means finding another job.
like the setup that employees moved to california -geezuz those people got sc--wed. there are no gaurantees and lets be honest here AT&T is the walking dead, right-sizing since 280,000 employees...and they will keep driving people out the door. its filled with debt and old timers

Anyone who has less than 8 years is most likely young. They'd be wasting their youth in a shithole like that.
It is your decision to move or not to move. You want to drag your family to Dallas and make them miserable? Or you want to move alone, hoping to work few more years and risking a divorce or being laid off. Do you want to be in the office 3-5 days a week with people you have nothing common? Do you want to be miserable and face a mental breakdown in Dallas? If your answer is ‘yes’ then move. But remember that life is too short to waste it because of some maniacs bad decisions.
I think a lot of readers here are missing the point of this post.

He’s saying say you’ll move and don’t which has been the standard procedure for anyone who doesn’t have a ton of severance.
Upper mgmt is going to be in for a rude awakening when that 50% moving number becomes 5%.
That being said, unless they throw serious financial incentives at you, I would most definitely NOT ACTUALLY MOVE.
If you’re one of the lucky orgs that got an extension to 06/30/2025 DEFINITELY say you’re gonna move and use the extra time to milk the check and job hunt.

I would take a closer look at the contracts. What you're saying is true for new employee. But anyone with 20+ years in MW still has gold standard job security language.

Union employees have very little protection now either. Contracts have intentional loopholes negotiated by union leadership to protect T. Union will respond fiercely otherwise, but just watch what happens over the next 24 months, you’ll hear “ told you so”.

This site has become very similar to politics in the US. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and their right to express it. Do so at your own risk though. The metrics that T shows the world are easy to interpret. A company in a state of consistent decline and behind the technology investments of other similarly situated companies. It’s akin to hugging sand. With what was once a rich annuity T’s desire to own everything and be the jack of all trades instead of being the master of one has led to the undeniable end state of the company as we knew it. So, feel free to join the propaganda for or against, and support your own agenda, but the reality is quite clear where we came from, where we are today and where we will end up in the coming months. It’s a tragedy, we owned the technology space but got caught reading our own headines.

Don’t move, plan your exit on your own terms. Writing has been on the wall for 5 years. You get caught off guard it’s your own fault.
I suggest that if you have less than 8 years in the company, or any amount greater - leave now! Don't stick around for more abuse from the Stink and Toxic-T.
