Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Is 5 days a week RTO actually a thing??

Seeing in a couple of the replies on here that 5 days in office will become a thing. Anyone know anything that us IC's don't know yet? If I have to actually start going in that'd probably be the final blow for me.

This has to only apply to certain employees, right? ...That live near certain major offices? I was full remote prior to covid. The team I'm on is globally dispersed, no one I work with lives in my region. The closest office to me was a sales office that was shut during covid and Dell never re-opened it. I'd actually be happy to go to it once or twice a week, as I've been stuck working from the same desk for almost four years now... I find it hard to believe they'd make me move or something just to check a box.

I’ve heard 3 days a week if you live within an hour of the location.

The mandatory RTO is coming, but a sr director didn’t even know the frequency required. I’ve heard both, but 5x just doesn’t make sense. Also was told that the Mandatory RTO email will include language around remote disadvantage, including deprioritized for promotion

I've heard 39/40hrs (I guess per month) in the office. Just wait it out.

That's ridiculous, dell was 3days office 2 days wfh for close to a decade before covid. But if you missed sales numbers manager could pull it.

The return to office is just a way to cut numbers indirectly and force people to leave.

Crud...I really don't understand how it is any better for our carbon footprint. Commute on it's own has got to negate all positives of having us centralized

Yes Hybrid is for clients who want to adopt modern efficient work practices. Dell wants you back in the sweatshop with maximum carbon footprint.

It's all about sustainability.
