Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

The Problem With This Last Layoff

Is that the big d-mb dip s h i t s at the top of this circus weren’t let go. No VPs, no SVPs who report to other SVPs, none of these heads rolled. It’s all the underlings who actually know how to do anything, people who don’t have enormous stock grants to fall back on. Tip top clowns who hired Chuck Numb Nuts and gave him $30M for running this ship into the ground…none of those jokes were let go

I suppose I should have seen that the only people who were ever going to be s c r e w e d were us weenies

That really speaks to 'the good ol boy' network that exists at Dell. There have been countless examples of connected SVPs who have been reorgd out of whole teams only to sit like lame ducks, without a team or meaningful responsibilities but still remain employed for months/ years. No such courtesy will be extended to you if your not in the JWC network, unfortunately.

Several VPs that have been let go this time around and know of SVPs that just sit on the books with nothing assigned to them

the issue exists with dell is the same one that exists with many companies. The senior management many are not the ones who started on the phones talking to customers and building configurations so they know nothing about the product. That is issue number 1 then there is not effort to promote within; often Field Executives are chosen outside the company and again know very little about the HW they are supposed to. The management of those Field Resources only know how to run reporting and make their problems major problems for those who they manage.

Bringing in Chuck only to pay him to go away a couple years later was pretty telling.

Could he have been the future CEO? Maybe.

But as long as useless JC was around it wasn't going to happen.

Feels like a power struggle that went JC's way.

100% couldn’t agree more. Dell has no future, especially with its current set of people running the ship.
