Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Layoffs seem location based

In my larger team, it appears that the people who were laid off were those who were remote and not within commutable distance to a Dell office...
Honestly, mgmt may have been doing them a favor by giving them severance.

Too late, already spooked. I just want to know one way or the other. This stress is too much.

Not seeing that happen (ie specifically remote layoffs).

Global manager, WFRs largely organizational or location cost based. They’re not even performance based in most cases.

No need to spook the remote employees

That was how they started last year with our team. Then followed the people who have redundant roles and some with higher pay. It made sense who got cut after the strategy was revealed. Based on the talks, they are pushing this GenAI really hard so if you intend to stay longer, sooner or later they will trim down more workforce.
