Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

There's no better option here

The logic is, they are going to try and get rid of people and pile more accounts onto existing salespeople.

This is why I think that those who remain are not that much luckier than those who are shown the door. Things will change for everybody and either way, the employees are sc--wed.

It’s a consistent pattern with Dell. They punish their top performers. It’s more important to meet your quotas on emails sent and calls maid rather than hitting sales quota. People who don’t make their revenue numbers but send out their email quota are rewarded. Now they pay you a fraction of your commission if you take the order direct vs pay you 100% if you push the sale through the channel. Writing is on the wall with where the loyalties are with Dell. Michael is a weak leader.

Yup, i left a few months ago, new job, really great people, more meaningful work, much greater satisfaction with life. My peers still there do not seem happy, always stressed, overworked and looking over their shoulder...

Its very sad to see this happening as i had many amazing years connecting with people, chasing business, winning against the competition, growing my buinsess agressively, smashing results consistently, being recognised for my efforts and outcomes, being awarded 3x LTIs..

And then you notice your boss is not happy you keep hitting your number while other teams are missing.... then come the snide comments on how luck you have been, then comes the quota walk to make sure you take other teams numbers so they can have a chance of hitting target... but they still miss while you hit... well thats not on, next time lets make adjustments to the teams that miss to get over the line through manual adjustments... and when that doesnt work... well lets just mess around with account planning.... lets take all the accounts that have spent and push as many as we can to another segment... and then lets look for all the accounts with no or minimal historic spend and align them so we can artificially achieve a target and demonstrate growth...

Good times :)
