Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

For once…

Let’s try off shoring management and keeping the local engineers.

If we gonna have 8 layers of managers, let’s at least be cost effective about it.

How about more competent management? We don't need so many layers of management if the people were competent. And while we are at it, get rid of the Kohls managers. That action alone will shrink the numbers. RL brought his cronies in, and we don't need them. We never did.

How about less management in general?

@qfb+1qThKJeV Completely agree with you! Management loves offshoring for cost reasons, but they are not the ones having to deal with the offshore team at all hours of the morning/night. It is the ICs who have to make sure the work is done correctly. The cost savings are done on our backs. There are some good folks offshore, but most of the time, the quality of work is just horrible. You get what you pay for.

The awful ideas on this board are truly something else.

Less management more doers is the answer. These offshore folks are mostly not worth it. You can replace ten of them with one competent on site. It’s not the number of bodies but the capability.
