I finally got my opportunity of a lifetime, moving up from part-time employee to full-time employee assistant manager. I was so excited, I had a really good interview however when I got the offer back I was disappointed. It would only be a raise of .50 cents...I had to turn down the offer or I'd be homeless begging someone to live on their couch but I'd finally be full-time after 20+ years. I tried... I really did...

Work life balance is a myth. What kind of jobs have a work life balance?
Jobs with little responsibilty....which will always equate to a job with low pay. That will always be your trade off no matter what company you work at. Unless you want to get into sales....which i would rather cut my tongue out.
*OP here, thanks for all your comments and support!! I need to clarify this was an "assistant manager" position to a department not a manager position of the entire store. For the person who said enjoy Biden money, I already work a full-time corporate job but for less years than I've worked at Giant Eagle, I was looking for a chance to turn my part-time job into my full-time job so I can have work/life balance for once in my life. I have better medical benefits at Giant Eagle too. I just wish things could've worked out. .50 cents more an hour is a JOKE!
Sales are not fine at Giant Eagle.
Sales are fine at Giant Eagle regardless of what some of you see in parking lots. Inflation is hurting margin, which will affect their ability to pay a targer bonus. They will be paying a bonus this year for sure. Like always, they need a strong Easter and hopefully fuel sales rise. In April they'll cut travel, training and go on a hiring freeze until the end of the FY....like they have for like 10 years now.
Good luck getting a bonus on the performance of Giant Eagle. When I pass by a Giant Eagle I have a hard time believing they are still open. The parking lots are empty.
Approximately how much does each Manager make? Front End, Grocery, Store Manager, Co Mgr, Produce, Deli,Curbside ECT?
Aren't managers salaried employees? If that's the case, they are paid by salary and not by the hour. They also are then bonus eligible based on company performance.
I think what they are expressing is .50 cents more an hour isn’t worth what Giant Eagle expects out of managers. They are forced to work 50 hrs a week with no extra pay. Some weeks they are forced to work 6 and 7 days with no extra pay. So the .50 cents more and hour doesn’t cut it.. Good for you for not accepting the position.
I don't understand. You're better off working part time and making .50/hr less?
Guess you vote blue and enjoy biden's free money!
What an insult. Good that you turned it down.
Giant Eagle has always been and will always be a low wage company.
