I love how my manager always pulls out the "we're family" card when he wants more from all of us (and when I say more, I mean more than humanly possible,) and yet when we need something, we are denied and we shouldn't get upset because "it's just business." Seriously? I stopped giving it my all a long time ago and now I just laugh at the "family" bit. If he needs more than I'm willing to do at this point, he can do it himself.

With that attitude you will never be in a position to ask others to do something and will remain the one being asked or told.
