So what’s the deal for areas that have no office to return to? Categorize yourself as hybrid and it’s dells problem?

whatever you do, if you are not near an office and don't plan to move, DO NOT mark yourself as "hybrid". They will be tracking office badge ins via workday. If you do not hit your 39 it means cause for termination because marking yourself as hybrid is committing to coming in for those 39 days. It is a SH** situation, but i don't want that to be a reason anyone gets terminated.
I was remote pre-covid, but had an office near me so I went in occasionally just to get out of the house. Office closed and Dell has not reopened it. Being remote was never an issue as my team, and everyone I work with, are spread around the globe. Now suddenly I have to either: be hybrid and pay for my own move to the next nearest office where I'll be on zoom calls all day. Or be remote at the potential of my career being impacted. I'm going to take my chance at remote. From the employee standpoint, this is insane and illogical. It only makes sense if you view it from the company standpoint, purposely implementing policies like this to force attrition, preserve tax breaks, etc. And it makes even more sense if the policy was developed by people who assume everyone in this company lives/works in Round Rock, and doesn't recognize how many of its employees work out of other metro areas (and in now-shuttered offices).
It's my read too. You're remote, and if you want a future, you need to move. I was hired remote prior to COVID, and there's never been an office in my state.
Dell closed to only office we had during the pandemic and never re opened it. I was always “hybrid”. You’re telling me hundreds of people that worked here have to relocate or go remote? That makes no sense at all. I was never remote to begin with.
No. You go remote. That literally is your path.
Else HR's tracking machine will auto assume you will be swiping your badge at the office nearest you.
You have to relocate at your own expense per the FAQ unless you can “talk” management in opening a new req for you with relo attached.
First mistake, believing Dell leadership puts more than 1 second of thought behind any decision. They don't.
