Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Why permanently remote?

Has anyone considered why remote is a permanent one-time option?

Why isn’t that someone’s lease is taken into consideration if they wanted to be hybrid later on.

That’s the biggest red flag of this RTO email to me.

It's not permanent. If you choose remote you can change to hybrid anytime if you'd like. Though, once you DO go hybrid you will never have the chance to ever be fully 100% remote again. In March, there will be a time period where you can decide what you want to be. That will be your ONLY time to stay full remote. Once that period is over, you can't go remote.

You aren’t permanently remote. You can change to hybrid at any time. The issue is, once you go hybrid, there is no going back. The one time remote opt in is to change from hybrid to remote. But you can change from remote to permanent hybrid if you want to apply to a new position or get promos.

Dell does not care about their employees. I worked there for 12 years. They will do anything to save money regardless of how it impacts top talent. They are a great place to build skills and then abandon for a company with better, smarter leadership.
