How many people are thinking that the RTO is just another scare tactic? I mean are they really gonna do anything if you don’t go back?

Each region is different. Downtown Minneapolis is very different than downtown Denver. A cookie cutter approach will not work. I get the our stance, and I can see the company's, too. When I read about the lawsuits that the company is named in, I can see this as adding to the overall problem. Money & stockholders are paramount - not the cogs that make it all work. I've seen staff goals increase and benefits, as well as basic recognition, either toned down or completely removed. Is this the place you want to continue to work? Do some investigating & research other options. It's time.
Post ID: @2yei+1qX1Z2HZ They aren’t going to spend millions period. I’ve seen what it takes to update a facility. It’s slow, ridiculously expensive because of the vendors they use and doesn’t bring staff back in
I agree with @2ivv+1qX1Z2HZ it’s all a Game and we do not matter in this game. So play the game smart but not harder.
How is everyone so entitled? You’re a number, you do not matter. What matters is your family. So provide. Anyone who thinks a company actually cares about them is delusional. Just play the game for your family’s sake. Everyone talks big until the music stops and they don’t have a job.
All the folks stating they are remote should not forget that they can change it to hybrid with the click of a button.
They are not going to spend millions to create hubs all over the US so they can have empty buildings.
Andy can su-k it. I’m not going to risk my life going to crime ridden downtown.
To @1sdd+1qX1Z2HZ who said "just do it and show up." There's no value to being in person. It's like going to the laundromat when you have a washer and dryer at home.
"They can’t fire the entire department"
Yes, they have fired entire departments.
In every company I worked at, I have seen entire departments literally get fired. I can name one well-known firm that fired 30+ members who drank beer on the premises at an unsanctioned office party.
The sense of entitlement and "they won't do this to me" is glaring...
The HR person in charge of my medical accommodation request... is home based. Gotta love the hypocrisy
US bank spent a lot of money and have a vested interest in Downtown Minneapolis Real estate. That’s why they are making people RTO, so the value of the properties don’t go down, more. Crime? Commute? They don’t care, it’s about the$$$

Are they going to provide security guards for us to return to dangerous downtown locations? Employers like Clorox and Kaiser have to provide security to employees because Oakland is so dangerous that employees are told to stay inside office for lunch.
These airheads marking the decision obviously don’t care about our safety or the cost of commutes. Any raise you might not receive for not showing up with be negated by the fact that RTO will cost you money for transportation , lunch, clothes, makeup, child care and 2 hours of your life wasted commuting.
Read an interesting story today about Minneapolis being one of the most deserted downtowns in the US, driven largely by people's fear of crime there. Frey has been publicly pushing people to return to office, going so far as to call those that work from home 'losers'. Privately, I hear there is pressure being put on businesses in downtown MPLS to get their workers back in the office. I would suspect this has to be at least one of the current drivers of the corporate wide RTO policy. You can't just mandate it in MPLS and leave other locations to do as they please.
I am not happy about going back in the office but the plus side is I wont feel the need to put in as much work. Over the last two years I have gotten into a bad habit of putting in more hours than I should have been.
The negative obviously is the crime downtown MN...not looking forward to going back there.
They will use this to cull the workers they want gone. No package. The workers they still needs will slip through the cracks.
They can’t fire the entire department. What are the managers going to do without workers? Hire Zoomers? Good luck with that.
You would not “win” any case no matter how high performing you are. You are an at will employee and unless they’re firing you as a protected class, you will not only lose but lose badly. No lawyer would even take your case.
To be clear, I think RTO is a joke but if they fire you as a result of you not going back, you have no case. Period
For those that say it's not that bad.
I'm a GenX. It's obvious to me and younger generations that Remote working is the way of the future.
My fear is that I was remote before the pandemic. If you read the RTO info on the intranet all I see is blurbs about safety. That's pretty obvious that they have to overreach for an excuse. I fear that my status would change if a hub js near me to Hybrid.
Excuse for control. They want people to quit to.avoid severance. When enough people are laid off, the tune will change and the current overpriced real estate will suddenly be too much money.
It's all about monitoring, control and
Stop being so negative surrounding RTO. It’s not that bad people. Life is too short. Be grateful and show up. We used to show up M-F. This is small matter. Stop sweating the RTO…just do it and show up.
I am not coming in to sit by myself and have to listen to office chatter. The people in my department are all located in different cities. What’s the point?? If not coming in means no raise, I don’t care about an extra $3k a year. It’s also dangerous where I will have to go to the office. Not worth a 2 percent raise
I’m not following it. If they want to fire me then be ready for a fight cause I’ll bring receipts. I’m high performing year to year with awards to prove it. I would fight back and win.
I'm guessing they will be very arbitrary with how they enforce the policy. The impact of non-compliance on performance review is vague. As they claim it is up to manager discretion.
