Many years rated as outstanding/top achiever…. now below target. Boy, I really slipped last year. I guess I needed a “humbling moment”.

The "PR" process is a joke, and will continue to be a joke. You get your yearly objectives and there is no way you can achieve them. Most of us CAD guys "copy and paste" their PR's from the prior year. We have CAD supervisors and managers that don't have a clue on what is going on. Last one out please turn off the lights.

Nothing to do with performance, all a money grab. Ford is Nothing more than a rotting cesspool created by a psychotic senior leader team that are draining the company dry as we race to oblivion. We have the male Ford family being led to the sla-ghter. Hmmm look how far the Lions came one the BFs mom and later sister took over the reigns.

Don't beat yourself up over it. At Ford, you could have a championship rowing team, yet only 2 on the team are allowed top achiever rating while 2 are forced into the under-achiever rating, and everyone else is categorized as meets expectations. As you can see in this scenario, it's not you, it's the system. If it makes you feel better
at least management, sitting in the stroke seat setting the pace, is getting pretty good rewards. They may not come in the form of a cash bonus, but they get lots of special events / race track time, tons of swag / fancy clothes, better benefits, and the reorgs always seem to somehow protect managers and supervisors, with things like dotted line direct reports and pseudo responsibilities.

In prior years (less so last year), we had unlimited use of TA. There were HR guidelines but nothing enforced. So what happened? We (supervisors) abused it and threw it on anyone we thought would be a problem in reviews. By problem, people who would whine with anything but high praise. Yes, in some cases it came with a higher merit but we also use it to just say “hey, you are doing great”. And then also lie to you that 2.5% was a good increase when the budget was 4.5% or something. I’m glad most of my full timers moved to another team and I’m just managing contractors now, I don’t have to explain all this BS.

I have my performance review tomorrow. Similar situation, been with Ford >5 years and the vast majority of those I got top achiever. My teams kept being eliminated or reorged, now I'm in a position for which my background doesn't really apply. Won't be surprised if I get Below Target after On Target in the middle of the year.

You didn’t do anything wrong. You had a bunch of years as TA and now your pay is too high for your pay grade. While being TA, you should have gotten a promotion, but you didn’t. So the fix is to now lower your ranking and give you a lower raise. It’s highly likely that since your pay is too high for your pay grade, you will be laid off in the next round. Start looking outside the company for a job now. It’s easier to get hired while still employed.

I too slipped from mid year on target. My peep leader needs to give me real time updates if I am fing up. That is her job, right? Why wait I can take it now and fix it.
