Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

6 more pad vacation days!!

It's rather funny how workers in Bloomington Minnesota workers get what's like six additional excused paid vacation days off in 2023 coded as Bloomington Safe & Sick Days (per local city law also adopted by the State of MN effective 1/1/24). Of course we respect the intent and purpose of this labor right.

6 days of vacation is nothing compared with how terrible it is to live in Minnesota.

“The little golden child who takes no paid sick days is so beloved by upper management that when the next round of layoffs happens, that special person will get to keep their job with a pay raise as well as a bag of carrots. All laid off folks will wish they were that almighty person for whom a shrine monument shall be forever displayed on the back of the box for Summers Eve.”

I love when someone tries to tell me how to make it at ATT. I’ve got 26 years. You know how much bobbing and weaving I’ve done to get this far?

My reviews are actually uncomfortable because I don’t enjoy being praised. I’m just that guy. The top 10%. So kiss my azz!

The vast majority of management employees in the Northeast rarely even code days off, unless questioned by someone other than direct supervisor. Take an hour or three, it doesn’t really count, I mean I’m checking email from my phone…riggghhht.

It would be paid by the city line Jury Duty. Shouldn't cost the company a thing.

We get 10 paid sick days per year however those are unexcused or "chargeable" which means those days are used by the company for disciplinary action up to and including dismissal however with this new local labor law, the 6 days are excused. So it would seem there's no additional cost to the company since those days are paid regardless. It's simply that the company cannot discipline employees for these 6 days. Of course the City or State dosen't fund the 6 Safe & Sick Days. This isn't communist Russia! haha...

Nice perk but who is paying for the day off and for the loss productivity? The city or state I would hope, It will put more of a burden on businesses if they have to offer above and beyond the ill benefits they already offer. If businesses already meet the requirement then I’m sure they will adapt their policies so it won’t be added on top of existing benefits.

Good for employees working at a business without that benefit.
