OP here. For what it’s worth, I have not heard about the emails about corporate going out this week. However, with inventory happening next week the timing for closing stores does make sense. It may be easier for them to just deliver one email with bad news over one this week and one in 3-4 weeks. There will definitely be job cuts though, so prepare yourselves as has been discussed across posts.

Not when stores are closing but when are announcements going to be made about job eliminations? We all know it's coming but when and who??

The announcement will be early next week. If your store is closing you will not do inventory.

When is all of this going to be announced? After we all give our blood for inventory? What about store executives?

I’m not too sure of the breadth of cuts across the board, but I know there are a lot coming with the focus being on lowering SG&A expenses.. let’s do even more with even less than we’ve already been working with. When I said digital I was referring to the digital job family (supporting .com, customer journey, etc.).

If you’re concerned it isn’t a bad idea to put your resume into other places and kick the tires. You can always turn down an interview if your position is secure, or still take it if your workload is going to be drastically increased with only a 2-3% raise waiting for you in a few months.

This layoff will be extensive, across the nation. Many talented individuals will be let go. Many departments out sourced.

Hi All! I REALLY appreciate you all responding to my post (reliable source). Last question, in terms of "Digital" does this mean "online corporate".
In terms of cant replace off the street , some jobs will be held - I am a phot Art Director, is that considered a not off the street job?

I am very aware of the macys antics, I am preparing on my end as a precautionary measure. In Feb of 2020 it was a blood bath before 2nd blood bath in July 2020.

Wonder how bad we're talking here.

Everyone, your amazing for helping support our concerns & sharing what you know.

Are you speaking about the current data network? MTech screwed that up! Those positions will be outsourced to another company. As for the rest of Corporate, get your resumes ready! "D" day is coming.

It is a reliable source. Expect the traditional cuts that we’re used to seeing. HR is involved and as a fellow commenter stated, stay tuned for an email.

To the other commenter - they won’t retain anyone if they sell? Tell me you’ve never worked on Mainframe without telling me you’ve never worked on Mainframe. The antiquated systems, jumbled mess of data all over the place, and subject matter experts that you can’t just hire someone off the street to replace will keep some corporate jobs safe. There would obviously be massive layoffs if the sale goes through, but 0% chance it would be a full purge.

Do these corporate cuts only pertain to IF (when) the company is bought out, OR a standard downsize as they are known for, regardless of the buyout news?

I work in Corporate, trying to parce how strong the rumor is by the anonymous poster.
Reliable source or Hear Say

Tks

They will not retain anyone. They will bring in their own people, for far less in salaries. Been there.

The sale will not go through at the current $21 offer. It’s possible the offer gets increased and a sale goes through, but regardless expect corporate restructuring without the sale.

If a sale does go through, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize you’d decimate the value of the company if all of corporate was gone. My personal opinion is they’d sell off the expensive properties, split off Bloomingdale’s and blue mercury, and consider splitting .com off. Private companies still need tech, digital, finance, etc.

Corporate restructuring? It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. If the Company is sold , you all will be gone.
