Have you heard anything about potential Cisco layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Working at Cisco is like working a lemonade stand at an anxiety support group. You start out in a chaotic environment, you start to figure things out and as soon as you make your first cut into the lemon, you realize you have a paper cut. You cut more and more lemons, you keep up with the demand, and the burn just get worse.
Eventually, you make so much lemonade and all the group leaders happy, you are numb to the pain.
Unfortunately, Cisco hasn't changed in the 20+ years it's been around. It was chaotic back then and it's chaotic now. Leadership has no idea what they want, how to get there, and dont listen to the people with the actual expertise. They keep buying up companies, running them into the ground and doing an exceptionally poor job at integrating any of them.
Just remember that you're replaceable at work but you're irreplaceable at home. In an hour after you exit, work will forget who you are, what your contributions were, and all those late nights spent bailing leadership out. In 20 years, the only people who will remember you are your family and friends. Spend more time with them, take the time to enjoy that time, and don't work too hard, people.
I will be getting laid off today, already see the meeting on my calendar that appeared late Sunday night. CX org, 59, so no surprise for me actually. Ironically, I was planning my retirement exit strategy at the end of the year, so depending on what the package looks like, I will most likely make out better. Good Luck!
Layoffs have begun in Australia in the CX org.
It maybe blessings in disguise when you leave Cisco, seriously.
Take a breathe, enjoy your weekend. What happens on Monday is out of your control. Nobody knows on this "anonymous" site what will happen. Believe me, this site is not Anonymous...
Does anyone have any idea of what teams and business units will be hit? In February Operations for Cisco Capital was hit extremely hard. I heard middle management was a huge target. I know Operations in Capital has a newer layer of management that no one knows their purpose.
I was cut in February 2024 after a terrific mid year review. I was lucky to find a job 3 months after signing my severance. I can't understand why they are torturing their employees by making them wait an entire month before being cut. Very cruel behavior. A current employee said more big cuts in February 2025. My advice......start looking ASAP and have your resume ready at all times. Cisco ELT doesn't care one iota about anyone. The reward the a-s kissers and drinking buddies and punish people with the scruples not to a-s kiss or get drunk with management to survive. A VP I knew started in Logistics was promoted to director in 2018 or 2019 and by drinking with his management team he is now VP in just 5 short years. Yet people under him have more education and abilities but are overlooked because they're not the popular individuals.
Hi Splunk, welcome to Cisco! Only thing constant here is reduced budgets and layoffs, Enjoy!
Cisco is purely a joke. They offer great benefits however, so many will never see or be able to enjoy because you will be laid off. The workplace is getting as toxic as word on the street says Amazon is. And ironically, a lot of hires are coming from Amazon. Splunk employees have been promised no lay off for them for at least 3 years. So sc--w loyal current employees, let's make room for the employees and promise them a job for 3 years. And the internal find a job is a complete joke.
My advice to leadership, look into the management you have and investigate all complaints. A lot of your managers and directors need to be laid off or better yet, YOU ARE FIRED!
Wow - shock and surprise that the company who does thisANNUALLY[as often as quarterly] for the last10[23]+ years is doing it again?!
FTFY.
Me too. Need to get beyond that vesting date in Nov.
Anyone heard any rumors or inside scoop about what departments might get hit? To be honest, I was already going to retire end of year, so I would not mind at all getting a package.
I was layedoff by Accenture. Same kind of company. The truth about american tech bullsh-t company is about to appear.
Wow - shock and surprise that the company who does this ANNUALLY for the last 10+ years is doing it again?! It's been part of their DNA since it made Chambers cry to do it way back in 2013. If you don't want it to happen to you, don't let it! Be proactive and control your own destiny. It's business, not personal but understand no one there has your back but YOU! Please, for you and your family's sake, wake up.
Cisco have leaked this information for the market & its employees to absorb this shock. This plan was on since a month & Reuters strategically reported this 2 days back. Strange!! Malicious!! #wearecisco
Finally, Secret is out as Reuters confirmed the LR news. https://www.reuters.com/technology/cisco-lay-off-thousands-more-second-job-cut-this-year-sources-say-2024-08-09/
I can confirm, layoffs are coming as I am part of management.
Recently, we were asked to identify few folks from each team as VP level planning has already started.
Amazing how people state "Layoffs Coming information confirmed" but never supply the information or reference in any way. I think many of these post actually come from management who want to create FEAR in employees so they will jump and work like slaves. Meanwhile CSCO continues to make a 65% profit margin and insane amounts of money, most of which is horded by the top executives and board members.
why does not Cisco board change the CEO who can only do lay off
Is the Cisco board or CEO destroying the company?
I was layed off by Cisco last February even after a promotion an excellent job reviews. Get out now, especially if you are over 50. Cisco only stays afloat due to buying companies. No won wants to hire you with Cisco on your resume. I know from experience.
19th Aug - LR is coming.. confirmed information..
Any word on Q1 layoffs?
Agile, woke management and foreign workforce destroyed Cisco.
Cisco's software was garbage for decades before any of these things happened. What has been consistent for those decades is the incorrect belief that most of Cisco's software "engineers" know something about software development which is why it's had to acquire constantly since 1993. With over $55B in revenue and a market cap over $190B the kinds of acquisitions Cisco needs for real growth now require development skills to integrate that it does not have. Stop blaming everyone else for your own incompetence.
PLEASE stop coming on here and touting layoffs when none exist. LR from last quarter is done and has been completed for sometime now.
Err, from the Q2 10-Q:
The Fiscal 2024 Plan will impact approximately 5% of our global workforce, with estimated pretax charges of approximately $800 million.
These aggregate pretax charges will be primarily cash-based and consist of severance and other one-time termination benefits and other costs. We expect this plan to be substantially completed during the first half of fiscal 2025.
There has been nothing said about LR this quarter. Cisco has to report this financially since it is a clear loss on the balance sheet and at least one media outlet would write about it and there have been NONE. So PLEASE stop coming on here and touting layoffs when none exist. LR from last quarter is done and has been completed for sometime now.
Silent LR is ongoing already!!! They are working on this trying to get people to leave voluntarily so they don't have to report as large layoff numbers to wall street and public. The truth is Cisco is a company in trouble and it's future is very much in doubt.
Agile, woke management and foreign workforce destroyed Cisco.
ER will never happen. I hope it does, but I just cannot see it. If they want to get rid of expensive old (white) guys without the poor optics, then it would be the no-brainer option. Then the diversity generation can take over the tough stuff, and show us how it’s done.
Sadly, I don’t see it.
@1zbjq+1qk1A8G9 I’m sorry for how they mistreated you. You, and we all, deserve better than these jokers. I hope you find greener pastures.
Early retirement to be offered is the latest word on the street.
Cisco ELT doesn't care about anyone. Fran comes off as this soft talking, caring human, Chuck comes off brow bent as he feigns concern and Scott is a joke. They have decimated the lives and families of 4250 people including myself.
People at Cisco moving on as business as usual thankful it wasn't them.
The entire process is beyond sc--wed up and the absorption rate they talk about is a total joke. Getting an internal role is as hard as if you were external and new to the company.
You know what I find shocking is how people are so naive to additional layoffs in April and August 2024.
I found it shocking that our management made it completely obvious that half our building was going three months in advance, and as we sat there getting the terse "this hurts us more than it hurts you" speech the day of the layoff half the room still couldn't understand that a layoff was happening and that everyone of us was being laid off.
Even here every round people start with this "this first layoff ever at Cisco is hurting moral so much everyone will quit and Cisco will shut down" speech. Guess what never happens each round?
Then there are the "Cisco is laying off 20,000 people" crowd, and every time it turns out to be like 5,000 people it's "Cisco is laying off 20,000 people NEXT QUARTER!" The center between the extremes clearly eludes many Cisco employees. The flip side is incremental change hasn't and very likely won't fix what ails, but that's all the markets will tolerate.
You know what I find shocking is how people are so naive to additional layoffs in April and August 2024. When you mention it to them they don't believe you and come hard through private Webex messages towards you as if you are a Benedict Arnold. Don't ki-l the damn messenger you blind buffoon
I heard April 15 is the next round of layoffs. This is also the last day for the folks impacted on Feb. 15.
Also read where part of the Splunk acquisition outlines Cisco cannot layoff Splunk employees for 36 months, but hey go ahead and layoff thousands of Cisco employees instead. SMH
What's the update for additional layoffs?
April and August?
Confirmed.
If you want me to confirm layoffs for May or September, I can do that, too. We are here on the layoff.com, after all.
What's the update for additional layoffs?
April and August?
More layoffs in April. More after year end. The absorption process is a joke. It's evident Cisco doesn't want many of us.
The ELT is a disgusting group that gets their as--s kissed just for self preservation. Chuck and Fran for President and Vice President, man come on with that.
They cut Maria the COO because she was a cr-ppy employee and she cut enough people.
Looking forward to Chuck and Fran and Scott leaving.
I am disgusted with the ELT. Maria was a terrible leader and manager yet made millions each year. Good Riddance. Chuck and Fran and the entire ELT should go.....their complete lack of understanding and sympathy was obvious today as they feigned care and concern.
They only care about Splunk and treating their employees better than existing Cisco employees.
Someone posted on LinkedIn that Chuck should be next but of course no one within Cisco would agree because of self preservation.
Best of luck is what a fellow employee can say. It can be anyone anytime and we must act like human and treat friends and colleague in tough time with whatever best we can. Running business is complex and am sure no manager gets happiness by reading those lines to people they were always meeting daily.
I along with three others from my team were cut. We were all grade 6 and 8s. The grade 9s some with no work and the newest on the team some with no work were safe. Absolutely no rhyme or reason for what they've done. No word on who made the decision. 13 people under our director were cut.
I am extremely angry as I think about those with no sympathy or empathy to what it's like to work hard every day and sacrifice time at quarter, month and year end to be cut with zero emotions or feelings or care. While your manager reads a script. The ELT and management has said nothing to the 4000 affected about this, doesn't care or have any remorse for the lives and families that they have affected. They sleep well in their mansions with their multi million dollar salary and stock options.
