@1nlb

You mean why are they not focused on the area of the business that is funding this foray into EV's? Yeah...it's kind of a mystery why they aren't "walking and chewing gum.." (funding the cash cow while also innovating)...doesn't really seem that hard of a concept does it? Model e can claim they are the golden children of the C-Suite...at the end of the day it's REVENUE. Plain and simple. If you'd wish it to be different, Ford had better find some way to get consumers to find the EV's they produce attractive so dealers actually want to fill their floor plans with them. Have you checked the days supply of Mach e and Lighting?? Go ahead, take a look...and loosing massive money on what IS moving. Ford Blue is funding the business and anyone that doesn't put resources behind that is a damn fool.

@1nlb Why is Model e revenue so far below their expectations and expenses?

HTHD in Model e is the top of the food chain at Ford if you are in a technical-engineering position (non-leadership level). You will have nothing to concern about layoffs in this case.

There is a reason HTHD is not prevalent (if at all) in Ford Blue or other legacy areas of the company. Why would leadership advance or promote employees in areas that are on the businesses that are on a sunset path? Answer is they don't. Thus HTHD in Model e/software/etc is sustainable and secure.

I was given a raise in 2022 because they said I was HTHD. I got good PRs and didn't qualify for a pension, even though I was over 50. Then I got canned in June 2023.

Lol I was HHTD.
even contributed a lot to the codebase.

And was still let go.
they let go of all contractors that were converted to full time

You are being naive. Soon everything you do will be outsourced from the U.S. and you will be fired. 😢🫂

@1xjb

You may have “high tech high demand skills”, but if you are over 50, getting another direct hire job will be difficult.

If you’re HTHD, you should have no problem finding a new job elsewhere.

If anyone thinks this is solely related to Model e I'll have whatever they are smokin'. ICE and the whole business is at risk because of the direction leaders have taken the company. Yes you should always be worried about competing for a position in a job market. But don't think that should be the reason for your urgency..the urgency should be because you would want to be prepared for yourself. Competition is a given..however don't think for minute anyone from Ford is going to challenge you more than anyone else in the market right now. Most of them won;t venture outside automotive because they have this complex that keeps them boxed in. I've seen in a hundred times...they are afraid to branch out. Some will but most won't so it's nothing to loose sleep over where competition is concerned if you are the least bit versatile for career options.

Anyone in Model e should be worried. The red ink has been ridiculous there and there company will want to get most of the work that US salaried is currently doing to Mexico, Brazil or India.

You better start looking before you are competing with several thousand of your colleagues for a position.
