Venky will do anything to keep his god complex, similar to JD. Although they look different, they are the same.
AI is a long way away from “automating most of the Supply Chain”
Ai is going automate the majority of supply chain and planning
Supply chain on the global side is incredibly bloated and there is a lot of redundancy.
Every area will be expected to contribute
I agree. I don't think they'll lay off a lot from the supplies chain side, but I do think it will be affected. However, the statement is clearly sugar coated and we should try and read between the lines. Afterall, they're laying people off and passing it off as "opportunities".
Interpret supply chain efficiencies as implementing SEC
I would interpret supply chain efficiency as everything from sourcing cost pressures to being more efficient within the warehouses. Shipments gotta ship to make revenue. Running more units through smaller infrastructure is how you gain efficiencies from scale. Not laying off a thousand people who actually make/move the product.

Taken from the earnings call transcript:
"We are identifying opportunities across the company to deliver up to $2 billion in cumulative cost savings--------Some examples include simplifying our product assortment, improving supply chain efficiency, leveraging our scale to lower the marginal cost of operations, increasing automation and speed from data and technology, streamlining our organizational structure, reducing management layers and enhancing our procurement capabilities"
