Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Promotion city???

I work for another firm, but why am I seeing dozens and dozens of LinkedIn posts from Fidelity associates: "I'm happy to share I'm starting a new position as XXXXXX at Fidelity Investments!"?? Does everyone get a promotion on Jan 1?

The mid management/ higher ups in Fidelity have been given expectations that they will get better appraisals if they keep over selling the company with #FidelityAssociate posts and using pronouns etc

Lateral moves with no increase in pay is not a promotion!!! Unfortunately the young and d-mb crowd eats them up like candy. Then bi--h and complain when the bump they were promised never comes. So when vets try to negotiate they are turned down. This is why they will do another VBO, they want to get rid of those who remember the good days!!!

"But some squad leaders are at VP level so it’s not false info ?"

Please let me know what "are at VP level" means ? I am confused here.

Maybe something has changed since my days in MMK but when I was there we had ACTUAL TITLES in who's who and that is what I always put on linkedIn (and my resume on indeed.com) as I am not into making $hit up ;) and having to explain myself.

Folks can only have one "real" title IMHO that is what is reported when your next employer calls into FIDO to check your background. I direct reported to a person with an actual "Vice President" title in who's who and also was on an agile team with a "Squad Leader" (actual title) who was a pretend "VP" on LinkedIn. Our "Chapter Leader" (above the Squad leader actually) kept it real and did not claim to be at "VP level"

Just sayin' dont make $hit up as it will bite you -or- make you look bad.

Interestingly, someone I know earning in the mid 6 digits there was just laid off on Monday.

Unfortunately, management thinks that an inflated title makes the person more capable.
So many people with inflated titles in over their heads and either holding up progress or worse yet, making bad decisions.

As someone who previously worked there I can tell you that Fidelity has LOTS of inflated titles. A lot of those promotions are bullsh-t promotions with no/minimum raise.

I know Squad Leaders who list themselves as Vice Presidents on linkedIN and must not realize people notice this. It was a running joke on my last team at Fido. I am guessing this means that Fidelity has not enabled the Outlook tab that allows one to link your LinkedIn Profile right into outlook. My employer has this Outlook-> LinkedIN integration in place - cool feature.

How to get a promotion at Fidelity: put in 200% effort all year and kiss up to your manager

Rewards for a promotion at Fidelity:

A title change to flex on your peers on LinkedIn
3-5% raise (around the same % the lazy person on your team got)
The 200% effort you put in for the year to get the promotion is now your expectation

Congrats!

Rather than a healthy pay raise, Fido associates like to get paid with a fancy title for their LinkedIn profile.

@rsp+1qqr0OZG what I'm seeing is not in branch jobs. The posts littering my feed are mostly on the tech side. I think I'm seeing so many of these because I follow Fidelity on LI and they are commenting on every post congratulating the employee on their new role.

Lots of growth particularly in the branches. Reps come in and if they show promise get promoted and starting someone Jan 1st is clean way to do it.

Fidelity is booming right now and it’s a good time to be here.

Pretty much.
Handed out like mints at a garlic festival.
Ethnic stats for promos is also interesting, D/I definitely happened this year.
