Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Of course it happened

With RTO What I thought would happen has happened. Have a colleague who let me know they tested positive for Covid, and we were in office last week with them. Though I have symptoms, I tested negative and self isolating. My spouse is immunocompromised. I’ll be so upset if I give them any of this. Just a frustrating situation to mandate return to office when sickness is rampant.

If it’s not covid, it’s the flu. You have two options, quit or get an exception. I just can’t stand the constant complaining especially blaming an employer who pays you to work and you have a choice to be there. If you don’t like it, find another job but most larger companies have RTOd at this point. At least we still have flexibility.

I thought you were quitting?

Your immune system is shot from never leaving your house.

Reason for RTO? Culture!
What kind of culture do we have if there’s no empathy for immunocompromised?

That su-ks, I am immunocompromised so I got a medical accommodation. Sure people in my house go places but being crammed in an office with hundreds of people for NO good reason is ridiculous as your chances of getting sick increase dramatically.

Anyone espousing ‘research in your own’ fails to understand the bias that comes with it.

Thus anti-vax nonsense is no different from any other evidence that some people have way too much time on their hands. You took vaccines for decades and no problem. There’s no evidence of an autism link, nor showing of Covid RNA transmutations or whatever other nonsense convicted liars have claimed. OAN, Fox, Trump, Jones and the rest of the gang are lying to you for money.

Most of my team has covid and are working from home now. The irony.

Unless you and anyone in your house have zero interaction with the outside world, you can still get COVID regardless of RTO.

Honestly COVID is at the bottom of the list for reasons RTO is d-mb

@ufw+1quCe1TX We had horses forever too but when we found a better way we went with it.

I really cant believe there are still people out there shrugging their shoulders and saying well we’ve always done it like this so we should go back to that even though we found a better way that worked for almost four years

Risk increases with exposure time to groups of people. Being in an office building for 8 hours a day, 3-4 days a week, substantially increases your risk (to all contagious illnesses) compared to being at home for that same length of time.

The issue is being around 1000s of people sitting in close quarters which significantly increases the likelihood of getting sick. Yes you can get sick anywhere but the chances and frequency of getting sick must be lower WFH.

I'm already sick after being in office 3 days and I havent been sick in a year. Not sure where I got sick but sure is a coincidence.

COVID isn’t going anywhere nor is the flu that ki-ls millions a year or any other diseases just like pre COVID. The good news is there are medications now to cure it.

If you leave your home you could get it anywhere. If you stay at home and people in your home leave the house and come back they could get it anywhere. That’s life as it has always been forever.
