They will most likely low ball you, then give you a role that will help you get started at XOM where none of your experiences will be valued and you'd be constantly be told to do things the XOM way which means useless stewardship exercises geared at how much XOM acronyms you can spew out per second as well as using all the outdated tools that your T-Lead will use to lecture you about even though all they know is how XOm does things. Did I forget the good part? They'll expect you to figure everything out in seconds and fix all the problems of your unit or you're not meeting expectations. Then your ranking will depend on every thing else apart from your base job. XOM is poorly run as far as the process engineers are concerned. Only come here if the pay far outweighs your current earnings.

There are many factors with salary and CL at EM. Considering you would be joining as a experience hire you will always be under paid. I know some managers here with no knowledge in their current role, high CL, over 200k because they knew people. I also know people with knowledge getting done dirty. I would probably assume for you, CL 25 or 26 170k+.

If you were to hire in at a CL 26 and your manager has your potential at a 27 (lets say you 40 and retiring at 55). You would need to consider that you would only have one CL bump over those 15 years if your potential stays the same. Assuming you are consistently ranking well also.

If you are 40+, I would consider that in your decisions. Please note I don't know your experience, education or who you know. I'm just sharing some helpful advice. If you are a qualified Sr Process Engineer then I would look at all companies (those with bonuses and better ranking or no ranking systems).
