Left Sam's Club about 5 years ago. Held assistant manager roles in all departments: overnight for about 3 years, fresh for 2, hardlines for 2...
It was MY responsibility to make sure planograms were done on time. I was delegating to my TLs AND stayed back and got sweaty / hopped on the forklift/ handled wrenches/ crawled up onto steel, sometimes coming back home to my pi---d off wife at 7am when my shift was 12pm-8pm...
TL on PTO was no excuse for me. Me on PTO was no excuse for me. If I happened to have my PTO approved 6 months in advance, and planogram suddenly comes out, I made sure to beg my fellow ASM with best relationship to help oversee and constantly followed up with my TL in that area over the phone, asking them for progress, if they need scarce manpower help or whatnot... At the end of the day, I was the one who felt the pressure and was held accountable.
Hearing OPs struggle... let's just repeat myself: I left Sam's Club about 5 years ago.
It's a qualification for a manager to LOVE their office chair...and Sam's Club managers REALLY love their office chairs and chips.
@OP+1qvVuwgJ, did you ask the fresh manager what they did while you were out? It's their job to oversee the dept while you are away & handle things.
If you were dedicated you would have had your planogram done. PTO is no excuse. In our club they expect a persons Planogram to have been done before the person left for PTO. And if its not done when you get back at least be grown up enough about it to take the blame.
