Weird Feeling This Week

Wondering if Friday is the day. Leadership seems nervous and has been more absent than usual. Managers in surprise HR meetings.

Any one else noticing this?

All 1 on 1 meetings, weekly team meetings and org all hands meetings have been cancelled or postponed. Feels like the calm before the storm. No matter what stay strong and resilient.

It is weird that during the first week of 4:1, leadership is barely present.

Good. You qualify as mid management. A sacrifice has been found. Pack up.

Something is definitely going on. I’ve seen lots of management meetings and they seem to be frazzled by something. Perhaps they got their new org headcount targets and now have to design a new org to meet such targets? This Friday seems too soon but on a Friday yes.

If there's someone you know who has done something that makes you distrust them, now is DEFINITELY the time to slip a memo to HR as to why they are not to be trusted.

Oh they’re brainstorming strategies all right. For the next 4 weeks with HR on who is in / out. Welcome to game of thrones

Just for context, leaders being out of pocket in January is not a new thing. They always hold new year off-sites to brainstorm strategies which means things get quiet until they break and you get an avalanche of work requests based on those brainstorms. Of course this is not a normal January so there's no way to know really what's going on unless you're in the room where all these decisions are being made. I'm sure there are plenty of reorg and riff related meetings going on that are not part of the typical new year planning. We're all guessing and trying to analyze breadcrumbs.

Which group are you in?

It felt the same when our org went through recently. Leaders were in VERY early.
