HCL/Verizon not Renewing contracts past 30 months

Just heard from a reliable source that Verizon Business/HCL isn't going to renew any contracts past 30 months. They're instead going to hire off-shore employees "because they're cheaper".

This doesn't bode well for anyone that was re-badged earlier this year with the guaranteed 1-year employment extension. Contractors are the easiest to let go since there is no obligation after their initial contract is up, but there isn't any reason why they won't do the same for re-badged employees after their year is up -- if their only excuse really is because of labor costs.

You have to have a presence to be a valued employee, not WFH. Yes it’s nice to be lazy and WFH. But it just sends your value down, cause now they can get someone a lot cheaper and you’re allowing it by not being in the office. Call center representatives should have a big rif this year. And I’m sure Verizon is watching how AT&T are making out with employees who refuse to RTO.

You are all gone. I’ve directed Vz offshore movement for years. You are all gone, they don’t care if they need your skills. They have a budget and that’s the goal. Not a clean transition.

HCL has been fine so far. No one at HCL talks to us and we are in our little Verizon bubble. HCL has not made any effort whatsoever to learn our jobs and they do not interact with our clients. I was hoping they would lay me off Nov 1 this year to get my Verizon severance, but I do not see that happening. They need us too much right now. I’m sure we will be replaced in the long run, but that is a few years out in my opinion.

AT&T is doing the same thing. Getting rid of US tech employees thru RTO initiatives and hiring badged employees in India and Slovakia. RTO is forcing employees to move to 4 "hub" locations - at your own expense and no guarantee they will not surplus you a few months later if you pick up and move your family.

Verizon GTS leaders are very shortsighted and use talent as commodities,
People gain knowledge base here then they change vendors then you get new people and train them for another 3 months.
I do not think you save anything for business. I am from business team it’s extremely frustrating to work with ever changing tech workforce. Now somehow it landed my head to give domain knowledge to these new CTS people. Most of them are clueless about Verizon.
How can you expect these people to deliver any quality product?
