Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

New Leader

Yesterday's post got deleted because people started mentioning names. Please don't do that. My question is which org/team needs a new leader to be successful?

I will start by saying a new CEO would be great. We already have a new CTO.
How about SEC?

Might start with all the vps and directors that work fully remote while their employees aren’t allowed. Lots of hypocrisy in GT/Techops

@2rgt what is CIA?

CIA needs to be dissolved. Most of them are coasting and pushing work around without much hands on growth. They don't even know what insights are. The reporting scene at Nike is the muddiest of all that you can't even get one good dashboard that can inform us on overall strategy

In my opinion, TPMO and DTPO are both bulky orgs that shouldn’t be in Tech. They are neither tech nor engineering. They have the same leader right now.

and TPMO was created by RAT and its just a duplicate organization. Honestly no one has work in that department. That completely need to be axed.

All the Kohls batch + whomever they bought from other companies like Target / Amex / Chegg / Walmart should go. They brought all the second grade leaders while depriving of promotions to the existing employees / talent.

New CEO check. ALLLL of the leadership in SEC - after the debacle that occurred in December and their go live was pushed 6 months - they all need to go. HR leader is and has been a joke. She needs to be shown the door.

NXT really thought laying off the one person who had was dedicated to brining the business and innovation teams together is going to help their cause? Such a terrible , short sighted decision.

So many coasters in the Sr Director & VP tiers are unwilling to do the right thing and hold their peers accountable. Zero leadership, just coasting by.

TPMO needs new leadership or to be dissolved. They have made working within DSM so much harder than it needs to be. Many of the current leaders get away with either coasting, pointing fingers, or just straight-up wasting endless amounts of money and resources on ego-driven ideas.

ED&A. The SVP doesn't understand anything -- data engineering, AI/ML, technology. And while we are at, large swaths of the AI/ML team needs to go. Leadership doesn't understand AI/ML at all, so they hired a bunch of know-nothings. Many of the ICs are just data scientists masquerading as ML engineers. If you are going to be in an engineering organization, you need to understand engineering. Period.

So far here is my list, all departments leadership needs to be axed now. We need a blend of people who know Nike and bring great outside experience and are great innovative yet supportive leaders.

Got it, next move is to go to unicorn land and get 1500 leaders from executive level down to director.

CEO for sure and I will add NXT too. They still have some good leaders BUT most of them are Politicians who master in fake smile and covering their own a-s. However, I do want to say Product Creation side is no better LOL

TO has nothing but followers in all LT/MT positions. Nobody in these positions willing to stand up and call out BS policies. Oh, they’ll quietly grumble but aren’t willing to publicly advocate for change.

Nike AirMi needs a whole new LT team. There had been a lack of vision and strategy for there engineering teams for years and has led progress being stuck for over 4 years now

HR is the biggest issue in my mind. The head of HR has very little non-Nike experience. There’s something to be said for promoting our own, but the culture is way too toxic and this board is a reflection of that. HR needs to be gutted and rebuilt starting at the top.

Innovation-all of it, needs a leader who isn’t an accountant or a designer…. The NSRL needs a leader who isn’t an egomaniacal cold fish
