All this uncertainty and a feeling of impending doom have thrown me completely out of whack. I’m crying a lot. Just feel sad. Can barely get out of bed this weekend. I’m gonna talk to someone on Lyra tomorrow. And gonna call in sick. I just feel like everything I’ve built in terms of a life here in Oregon could come to a sudden halt. How does anyone relax when everything could fall apart?

jd, pk, and the entire nike leadership team even down to the vp level love your misery and suffering
I’m sorry. :-( Please take care of yourself. You and your family are what’s important. We’re just selling shoes. No matter what, you have each other and that’s all that matters. Take care, friend.
@mls some of us are curious how things are going after we left and this board is one way to get a glimpse. Leaving the berm isn’t easy, by your own choice or not. Nike is a dream job for many and that can be hard to walk away from, even if overall you are in a better place. It takes time.
I was laid off from Nike late last year, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I landed a new role in a company whose pace doesn’t cause stress and mental breakdowns. Even in this job market, there are things that are far better. Take care of your mental health, and find down time to just find happiness.
Honestly anyone saying they were laid off from Nike a year or more ago and are in a better place…. but are still browsing Nike’s layoff message board….maybe aren’t in such a better place
There are bunch of really good podcasts that deal with the subject of being laid off, and what you can do to be resilient through the process - but more importantly thrive with new opportunities.
Keep your head up, chest up, and smile with whatever comes your way. That action holds power. YOU got this and I believe in you :-) … hold it together there is a 95% chance you’re still on the team and we need you. We need people to believe in our future and contribute.. if people give up we are doomed. Stay UP!
Relax. It’s just a job. Jobs come and go. You will find another whether it’s here or in another city. Sometimes change is good. But there is no guarantee you get laid off either. Most people will not this time. Maybe next time. Other companies are the same. Save a lot, don’t take on debt when you do have a job.
First thing to do is take care of you. You are always first. Know this. You are not your job and remember there was a time you lived and thrived without Nike. You can do it again if things don’t work out. You were hired by Nike which is not an easy thing, you will be hired by others and you will thrive. It’s natural to doubt these things but just remind yourself of them
Be well
It sounds like you're taking good first steps: call out sick and talk to a professional. Get through that first, then figure out your next steps.
About a year ago my job at Nike ended suddenly. At that time, I felt same way. Now I’ve a good job, making similar $ and have no Nike drama.
Hang in there, this’ll pass. Nike is not your identity.
