Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Lumen has gone full tilt CoPilot AI crazy

Just heard from a friend at Lumen they are trying to push MS Copilot in every which way.

However, when I hear how they are trying to utilize it, it just sounds questionable at best.

Having seen this tool and customized capabilities to tailor copilot to internal use case. This does have potential to replace jobs especially if your job is task oriented with repeatable tasks. Some use case has replaced manual tasks that take hours to prepare to mere seconds. Not a scare tactic post just reality. What this can’t replace is jobs that require actual thinking and highly customizable type work. Only thing stopping could be Lumen’s own incompetence on how maximize this

Are they saying the employees are too incompetent to comprehend or retain information that pertains to performing their job?

Lumen is basically the Pakleds in STNG and doesn't know it.

They think AI is the character data.

"make it go"

I'm not sure it increases productivity so much as laziness.

So it will summarize the meetings I didn't make it to, or summarize that 10 thread email I didn't really read?

Most I have met have opted out of the copilot version, since it gave up features that have always been in say Outlook by forcing a web version of outlook that works with copilot.

They are also trying to get developers to find ways to utilize it but as with so many things at the phone company , we love bleeding edge but it doesn't exactly help with the technology is this new and unproven.

Overall, people are wasting a lot more time trying to find a way to use it than it's actually saving any time or increasing any productivity on a large scale.
