I am in office today and I noticed the webcam light turns on for a few seconds by itself when I am not even in a call… it’s like they are trying to peep at you when you’re not aware. This is creepy, no wonder why they wanna force you back to office, remember to cover your webcam lenses…

It could be when you start certain applications. Screenshot and screen recording apps do this if they have access allowed for the webcam because they use it and enable/test access when starting the app.
It’s called WADU and it’s doing what you think it is. One thing though - it’s not some IT guy watching. More senior EDs and MDs have it and I’ve seen the live monitoring in action. It gives 3 points of biofeedback along with the live monitoring supposedly reporting on ‘attention’ ‘stress’ ext.

I’ve noticed more cameras going up in Tampa. They’re not regular security cams because they have been installed near the existing cams. Could be coincidence. But it doesn’t feel like it.
We're you using Web browser at the time?
I have noticed (on my home computer) that the light, on the webcam, comes on briefly when:
- I start Edge
- I open Google using Chrome
- As I log onto my bank (not Chase) website
... so could be innocent.
That said I always keep the mechanical shutter closed when not on a call, or cover the camera (folded bit of paper) if it doesn't have one.

There may or may not be an IT guy going through company directory looking at profile pics and peeping on whoever he finds attractive, get that webcam cover ASAP!
