Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Written announcement is a joke

"always a last resort" from the same pigfu-ker who does the exact same thing every fiscal year.

25% mid-year bonus. Why even bother at that point? Just make it 0% and own the fact you're insulting anyone who can't escape and has to stick around to get Chucked. Maybe save a couple people's jobs so they can get sacrificed to juice the FY25 books.

Spent weeks planning this and can't even announce the details the same day, got to spend a weekend polishing up the linkedin and worrying about your future.

Maybe if you want long-term value, you need good employees to stick around to plan & execute for long-term? Instead of planning & executing their own escape to a stable company?

As a shareholder, I cast a cast a jaundice eye upon companies that do layoffs. In the long run I think layoffs usually do more harm than good. As Sanford professor Jeffrey Pfeffer said:

“Layoffs do not solve what is often the underlying problem, which is often an ineffective strategy, a loss of market share, or too little revenue. Layoffs are basically a bad decision."

Don't get emotional about companies. Think like a shareholder and not like a hampster on the wheel employee.
If they are not paying us millions, they can kiss our a-s.

Just do the minimum so as to not attract negative attention and work on the SIDE HUSTLE/S.
