Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Who in the ELT will get effect by LR?

Under current ELT, Cisco has seen LR/Layoff/Restructing/Limited restructuring/Silent Layoff etc for almost every quarter for last few years. If ELT's stratergy is not working - Why employees should suffer? why ELT members are not laying off - shame that none of them are taking accountability. But FranK has stories on Cisco's charity and purpose to support community. Perhaps she doesn't know that charity starts from your own company. Hypocrites..

You know that back in the middle ages in Europe, the nobility only ever got their head chopped off with a sword. There was no hanging from the gallows for them, that was just for the peasants.
The ELT handles things differently for their own kind...

I doubt anyone in ELT going to have impact. There is a circle around ELT, only those who have similar mentality and friendly will be allowed into that circle. (I remember my college days gang.)....so anyone they hire or promote will be just another flavor of their own mentality. They never hire who are smarter than them or who think differently (out-of-box)....IF one ELT moves to another corporate he or she will help others to follow her in high ranking position in that corporate. Poor employees who work are going to suffer. they work for peanuts and can get laid layoff anytime (even during Christmas) ....This is same in DSE/PE circle....same with VP/Director..these culture makes the Cisco blind

Martinez and Centoni are disasters. They've cost Cisco far more than any cost cutting measure could ever reclaim. Hundreds of millions wasted on totally irrelevant acquisitions, CX just a pale shadow of what it once was.

The truth is Chuck works for them (WallStreet) not for us.

The truth is this is a legal requirement. See the case of "Dodge v. Ford" from 1919. Don't they teach high school economics anymore?

I would start the ELT layoff with the person who showed up to RTP in the corporate jet with an entourage, stayed at a Hempstead (a $1000/night boutique spa 20 miles from the campus) where she ordered $200 bottles of wine and had a Limo deliver her to the campus where she gave a speech that was unintelligible and off topic, but focused on getting more efficient. In the old days, JP and TB would show up in a rented Corolla that they shared while staying at the Doubletree. Leadership by example matters.

That is the most bizarre thing about Cisco given the amount of layoffs they enforce to “reinvest in growth areas”. They are Laying off people every quarter for heaven knows how many years under the same excuse given by ELT.

Clearly these “reinvestments in growth areas” are not working and the responsibility for that failure lies directly with the ELT. But none of them gets pushed out. They just stand there with their cronies right down to the Directors and spew rubbish in the name of vision. The buck ultimately stops with CR and he never takes responsibility either. It’s always the hardworking ICs who get shafted under the cause of an LR or reinvestment when they are enforced to engage in projects that had absolutely no future. VERA is an example of such a project in Blockchain.

The reason for this headless chicken syndrome is lack of technical vision and the responsibility lies with the ELT, the hordes of SVPs, VPs and useless, arrogant Sales Directors who continue to milk the company at the expense of highly talented individuals.

The current regime has announced several times over the years "reinvesting in growth areas". If their strategy was working then there wouldn't be a need to consistently "layoff and reinvest".

The Senior Executives never seem to be held to account, rather the workforce pays instead. It is sad to see and not great for morale.

Agree V2Momma is horriable, but I doubt V2Momma is directly responsbile Cisco's growth. BU leaders make Cisco products and ELT makes the stratergy. Having sais that, we shouldn't forget her contributions to Cisco...V2Momma made post-sale experience as frustrated as possible for customers - which can have impact at the time of renewals. She sc--wed up the TAC and made is one of the worst org in Cisco - both for employees and customers.

V2Momma must go!

Nothing but series of missteps and promoting her own people from Sales Force.

Have you noticed that Chucks increased the dividend to 0.01 that is 3% increase. There are funds in Wall street who are interested in investing in stocks which pays regular income - such as pensioners. Cisco pay around 4% yield. They will layoff more people, sell more buildings, shutdown more BUs to make sure the market is happy. When chuck took over the JC, the shares were floating around $13 to $18. So Chuck and ELT is okay to keep the shares around $50 till they step down/ Sell. The culture of Cisco has changed. It is turually a public listed company. The truth is Chuck works for them (WallStreet) not for us. :-(

Ask Chuck and get a non-answer

My thoughts exactly, the shares never recovered to $52+, after V2Momma took over there was a cut ang it just keeps spiraling while don't actually fix the share price. So maybe there's something wrong with where the company is going and it's so obvious that cutting people doesn't help all that much anymore.

From an X-Cisco pespective, I know Check when he was an AM. Its time for Chuck to step down and get into full time Politics - which is his strength (putting others under the bus). I think he is a member of Ford Foundation and has big circle of friends who are political king makers. Go for it and spare the poor hardworking employees.
