Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Invite from my VP but not HR….

Got an invite for a meeting a few hours later with one of the VPs in my org (specifically from her admin). I don’t see HR on the call but I’ve also read elsewhere here that sometimes they get a separate invite.

I’m expecting the worst, but I don’t really know and will just keep my head high. Good luck to all… it’s been a ride.

OP here. Was indeed both the VP and HR, and a layoff. Honestly, I’m happy to be done here and was gracious in that last Nike meeting of mine, making it clear what I believe Nike has done for me and that I know better days are ahead of me.

I know this moment is different for everyone, with some embracing the idea of leaving while others are fearful. Just know that whatever happens, don’t let Nike define who you are or what your worth is. You are capable of so much, so approach conversations ahead with your head up and keep your eye on the next amazing thing in life, whether it is Nike or elsewhere. You were hired because you are YOU, and will be hired somewhere else for that again, even if it takes time.

Here’s to you, wherever these next few weeks take you.

Good luck! All will work out in the end. Nike is not your identity. And if they do let you go, I hear the packages are pretty generous.

During CDA I moved orgs and had a 1:1 invite from my VP where I was informed of my new role. No HR on the call.

Speaking from experience, HR was on the call right when the meeting started but was never on the invite from my view. I will add that I was also on PTO, so don't assume you dodge anything if you took time off for the long weekend.

Yeah, its rarely the boss you report to that gives the axe. They may not even know until just before or after. You are just a name/$$$ amount on a spreadsheet to hit a target number by department. Good luck.

Yeah, get a drink ready, take it on the chin and move on. I am in the same boat - see you on the other side.
