Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

The death of a culture

“We will emerge stronger and better equipped to fulfill our purpose to serve all athletes and grow the future of sport,” Donahoe said.
That quote is laughable. Right now, the brand is weak, and shareholders can put the blame firmly on Donahoe's shoulders. He has done nothing but make short-term decisions based on conventions, not insight or belief. He has also crippled a culture that took 30+ years to build, and only three short years to destroy. It is no longer a culture of innovation, insight and ingenuity. It's become a transactional, technical and faceless machine with no soul. His passion for the job and brand is clearly more about starf%$@ng the Street and the athlete, rather than born of a real passion for the brand and its people. No thanks Mr. CEO. May we please have another?

With all due respect to the OP, the culture started eroding a few years before JD’s time. He just accelerated it.

@p-m+1r7SeDdz And missing out on severance since severance requires you don’t speak negatively of Nike or it’s leaders

Completely agree.
What has always been challenging to observe around this place is people believing leaders when they say things.

I urge people to end their delusion that there is honesty in the workplace - especially corporate ones. Pull back the veil and cut the bs - people like JD will lie when there are no consequences to lying. Plain and simple.

Don’t believe a word that any of these people say, and believe half of what you see. If people are willing to lie on their resume, and their LinkedIn - something easily verifiable - what makes you think someone wouldn’t lie when there’s no way to know?

Don’t blame JD for this. CDA was being architected years before he arrived. The same senior leaders that pushed for and enacted CDA are the people that pushed for and enacted this.

It’s their poor decisions that are destroying the company. JD is just collecting a paycheck,
