Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Is anyone safe?

There were so many people let go today that I didn’t see coming. Really really good people. Strong performers. Do you think there’s anyone who is actually safe? Groups or individual people that would actually be a real blow to Nike to let go? Or are we all just really a number on the page?

Yup numbers on spreadsheets to get to budget targets. If you think this company, or any company for that matter, cares about you…..you are mistaken. Make decisions for you…and def not a company.

Fu-k with the bull, you get the fu--ing horns, Bots are going to format all the retail store servers in a couple of weeks. There is no way to stop it. Good luck. I don't agree with it, but that's what I heard and it usually happens.

They started today, mostly with the bloated CIS and GT. They will move on to the lower band employees next week. Not everyone will be let go. New orgs will be formed and you could be transitioned over to a new team.
That black badge is what qualified you for a lay off. Please understand that. You can't make yourself work any harder or be more likable. It doesn't matter if you never took a day off or called in sick. It will not matter that you were tracking for an E or HS rating.
You are being cut because of an equation.

@ykm - hate to break it to you, but we need more than OS and UofO graduates for this GLOBAL company to succeed.

Log off, and return to kissing your Trump poster.

Of course we're just numbers on a page. That's how corporations work. It su-ks, but it's been the reality for 100 years

Once the Bain spawn came in, it was only a matter of time. We’re just numbers. And the fact that it’s not based on performance or value or anything we could impact (effort, for example) and just the spawn’s org charts, makes it hurt more.

What teams were impacted today?

What kind of number? Salary? Rating? Age? Versus mean? There are many ways to quantify and sort data.

Making room for more H1Bs until Nike is all brown.

That begs the question who is making the decisions and based on what criteria?

Look who was let go today - the people who made these decisions don't know who any of us are. Numbers on a page.
