Heard somewhere that now dir and sr.dir will be asked for input ? Not sure if this is true. Any thoughts

GT Director here. I’ve had no input, no communication whatsoever. I got the same emails everyone else did and that was it. Same with CDA, I had no visibility whatsoever until a spreadsheet came out after the fact.
CDA was supposed to cascade. It didn’t. This won’t cascade either. Have you looked at who got cut on Friday? It was arbitrary. Nobody is being consulted.
As someone else mentioned, the stack rank list was definitely made. My department even has this list posted in confluence under the guise of command chain if someone was out lmao. Dang, this is all making sense now.
IC = individual contributor (basically anyone working under a people manager)
My Dir and SD are id--ts so does not bode well
Can someone explain what IC in the original post means? Does it mean Internal Candidate?
Decisions have been locked since end of 2023. There is no changing anyone's mind now.
The appropriate term here is plausible deniability.
@OP, all decisions especially in GT have already been made and will be executed this coming week. Yes Dir and Sr Dir have provided inputs previously...before JD made announcement about layoffs. Good luck to all.
My belief is that vp level is making the final decisions with Hr. However senior director levels were asked to stack rank their teams and/ or propose roles that could be eliminated or combined with another to hit a numerical target. So while the sd may not know exactly who is going to get cut or redeployed they have an idea based on roles targeted for elimination. Director likely knows nothing.
@mof+1r8IwkJj below VP not consulted vs don’t share with chain of command is conflicting. Means many below Vp could know and not be sharing / lying to keep themselves in positive light
Much easier to convince everyone to blame an SVP than have your team hate you for the decisions you just made
Right now it appears the majority below VP level are not consulted and are in the same boat. Don't know if that is going to change soon as next week. I suggest not oversharing things with your chain of command
Don’t think phase 2 has started yet. Wider teams included, yes, who’s who and who goes where? No.
Appreciate those who shared. I believe all decisions are already made for phase 1 and many Dir / SD were not involved. What about phase 2? Are all decisions locked for phase 2 yet? I assume OP was asking about if Dir and SD would be asked for input for phase 2
Director in Product Creation here. At my level, have never been involved in any decisions nor have I heard anything prior to action.
During CDA, I had 2 people on my team laid off and was never told by my manager. I found out from the people themselves later the day of their phone calls.
I’m sure it’s different as you get into more senior leadership but as a people manager, I sure wish I would be consulted on matters regarding my team. How are decisions made? Sr LT doesn’t even know my team.
All decisions are already made. Thry had to be locked in at least a month before layoffs so that HR, benefits, legal could all do their pieces to prepare layoff packages.
That means the decisions on ICs is pending or is it already taken ?
Most directors are not involved whatsoever. Most Sr Directors are not involved and most likely will be read in tomorrow. Just know that these decisions were made at the VP level and higher.
I'm a director in Global Tech. Not involved in the process. Maybe I'm getting laid off. My Sr Dir and VP both said they have not been involved or informed. That could change this week I suppose. GT did go through a mid-year calibration a few months ago. That may be the list being used.
