With a $125k salary, my weekly unemployment was $640. I had one phone conversation, no other meetings. You have to provide 3 work seeking activities you’ve done each week. I was audited a few weeks before it ran out. They will ask for a specific time period. I took screenshots of my filing each week so I’d be prepared to speak to those specific activities.

My wife has gone through this twice in the last 5 years. You do have to call in once a week to advise what you have actively been doing to find a new job AND you have to be IN the state for that week to qualify for the unemployment. So, if you go on vacation, you can't draw it.
Good luck.

Max unemployment is $812/week for up to 26 weeks. Only two or three other states pay more so it’s a decent amount.

Severance, PTO, etc. doesn’t matter in Oregon. You can still file for and collect unemployment when you’re laid off.

Pro tip: file immediately when laid off. Don’t wait! Between processing and the waiting week it can take a few weeks to get your first check.

Keep a record of your job searches. You can be audited, especially if you’re receiving $812/week. They will check with the companies you claimed to have applied with. If they learn those companies have never heard of you your unemployment will stop and you may need to pay back any money received.

You’ll need to have a video or in-person meeting with Worksource Oregon, where someone with an associate’s degree from PCC will “advise” you on how to find a job. Try not to laugh at that person during your interview when they ask “Have you ever heard of LinkedIn or Indeed?”Besides, they’re just a government worker doing what Oregon pays them $45k/year to do.

Be patient. Dealing with the Oregon Employment Division will sour you on State government if you aren’t already soured. Speaking with an actual human is like pulling teeth. Their phone tree will often randomly misdirect you or send you to a full voicemail box. Or you’ll be on hold for two hours before your call is simply dropped, causing you to invent new curse words. If you have ever wondered why State government has such a poor reputation the Employment Division will educate you. You will utter this phrase at least a dozen times: “How is it even possible that…”.

But not too weak and anxious to ask complete strangers here of all places? Some of these posts really are from Nike’s best and brightest.

If you got laid off on Friday you're getting paid until early May, right? Not sure where unemployment would enter the equation there since you're still in the books for a severance.

After tax, max is about 2500 a month. Definitely not enough to cover living costs in most rent or mortgage situations, unfortunately

In July 2023, Oregon raised weekly unemployment benefits, which is considered taxable income, to $812 per week for those qualified to get this amount -- Lowest weekly amount is $190 a week. Check the Oregon's Employment Department for qualifications to receive the maximum weekly amount after a waiting period of about 1 week.

Unemployment is taxable in most states. You may also need to file weekly progress reports on your job search. Other states make you do this.

Max is $783 per week, or $3132 a month for 26 weeks. You will just need to file for it weekly on the Oregon unemployment site.
