Our manager has said to just not give middle scores because they’re seen as neutral and meaningless and discarded. They only pay attention to 8+ out of 10 or 4 and below or something like that.

But to those who say too mgmt gets away with mu---r and you have no way to rate them without hurting your boss… Why do think someone 6 levels down who has zero contact with a top executive should be able to rate their personal performance? Do you want Jeff Clarke to personally grade you on your performance?

It’s normal and nothing sinister that people get to give 360 reviews and also share some general thoughts on the company that acts as a proxy for morale. And a manager is expected to perform well both on how they personally perform (how popular they are with the troops), and how good of a job they do at rallying the troops to fight for the cause of exec profits. If there is across the board downturn in employee satisfaction, they’ll pay attention and at least consider if it’s a price they’re willing to pay. If just a few managers have teams with pissy attitudes it might be the manager is a Marxist.

I was honest, I got laid off the following year, fortunately I was liked within the team so the guy that laid me off got the worst NPS score in UK history. He was demoted to the ranks very shortly afterwards and laid off later. I took 18 months off, chose my new role carefully and love it.

Tell Dell is a joke. If someone scores bad for the company, it gets reflected on their mgr. There is no way to actually rate upper mgmt without harming your mgr. If you like your mgr you have to play nice on the survey. Upper mgmt gets away with mu---r and there is no way to low score them. If you do not do the survey they hold it against your mgr. the while thing is a joke

Since there is such a negative undertone with being honest on tell Dell, perhaps t is just time to boycott the survey?

As if that has any credibility left.
All managers here just tell their people to give high scores because otherwise it reflects bad on them. Happened last year too.
