You could be denied remote all together lol
Anyway if wfr happens (and it will) you will have a target on your back but hybrid folks aren’t safe either. They’re gonna reduce by 20k+ this year to thin the heard.
While the grey hairs usually cost $$ on average, I have seen many inexperienced new hires come onboard at 100K+. There was a big push where all those recent grads came over with no exp and were paid more than some of the existing employees.
So I would argue there's some cost savings in thinning the younger herd versus older ones.
@eov+1rCGyQCp I think you have it reversed.
Agree...if you're near retirement and remote - two strikes, unless a great performer.

There is no upside to hybrid. I suspect most hybrids will be stacked with those nearing retirement. They are the ones who tend to be expensive. Dell will have to cull from that group if cost saving is a goal.
Just start upping your skillset and shop your talents elsewhere.
They could do anything, but it isn't likely. And don't call me Shirley.
Dear OP, since you asked this question I can't help but think you have less years in the work force than more. Free advice like paid advice, should always be considered as biased.
If you were hired remote, then stay remote
If you changed to remote for family, medical, or office closure then stay remote
If you were not very happy in your current role, then stay remote
If you went remote during covid and you are close to the office, consider hybrid
If you work on a team who are all local to the same office, consider hybrid
If you received a raise under 2% and bonus less than 90%, consider hybrid
You can be part of the WFR no matter what you choose. So find a position that works for your family and go forth.
In the US, maybe, as there are no employment laws here. In Europe that are protected.
