Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Layoff Mechanics

How does US Bank let you know you're being laid off? Does HR send you an email? Boss call you? HR set up a Teams call with you? Usually happen 1st thing in the morning or late afternoon?

@2mlu+1rCdUAGq Is severance based on grade? So for an AVP, Grade 15 or higher, how many months severance does it equate to?

I was laid off by my boss’ boss as my manager got the axe at the same time. Had 20 minutes notice before the call; she read from a script. A few weeks of layoff pay to avoid issuing a WARN notice, during which I received full pay and benefits. Severance was a lump sum; I received my 401k contribution for the year I was laid off the following January.

Your manager has been working with Hr for several weeks If not longer. You will get impromptu meeting on your calendar. Depending on group either your manager or HR will read a short script. Then you will be given rest of day off. There is likely 30 or 60 days before you get severance. Your 30 or 60 days will be either working or non working. Either way you are paid fully for those 30 or 60 days. Then you will get email with how much severance you get. Severance is lump sum.

We had a meeting at 11 am as a team to be told the bank was letting go of three people. Sounds like one was notified last night at home via phone call and the other didn't know until 10:30 today. I don't know if HR was involved in any other way than writing the prepared statement our new manager had to read.

For my colleague who was just laid off, HR set up an end-of-day Teams meeting with them and their manager’s manager.
