Primarily because our enterprise systems are from the 20th century, so you need pions to manually sift through, and manipulate data to get useful insights and make pretty PowerPoints.

Also because VPs and Mgmt are literally in meetings ALL day. Someone needs to delegate the incessant task and requests that come all the way from the top of the house. Make no mistakes, all the random requests exists because someone in Dallas [now E4] wants it.

because execs like to prove themselves how strategic they are by requesting data every time in a different slice and dice. planners, advisors, SMEs, all busy with bucketing reality according to the latest whim of the exec, and trying to avoid the exec focusing on the wrong part.
