May Potentially Leave XOM - What To Do Before Leaving

I may have an offer for another company. For anyone who has left, what are the things you did before leaving to ensure a successful transition (rolling over 401k, etc.) ? Do we also have to pay back vacation days ?

Not a complete list:

Print (do NOT email) the key documents that you will need to develop your resume and answer interview questions. Yes, many will be proprietary, which is against the rules. Too bad. The company is laying off Americans to hire Indians. A man’s game charges a man’s price.

Do NOT save company codes for things like a rental car service. Very unwise in my opinion. When you seriously injure someone with your rental car, do you want ExxonMobil, the company that NSI’d you, as the account on the reservation? I didn’t think so.

Take full advantage of the Ernst and Young financial phone line to figure out what to do with your pension and 401k etc.

I agree. The dream would be to get another offer, accept it, and then let your boss notifies you of the the NSI. He'll be shocked when he sees your super happy face. Bingo! Exit bonus!

Do not take any proprietary documents...and delete any that may be on your home computer if you took work home. XOM will go after you.

Make sure you have HR/Benefits phone numbers and private lines and email of your friends.

Getting all your W-2s is crucial. You can still get it after you leave but it can take months. Make sure your gas card is not paid through your paycheck. If you pay it through your bank account, you may still get that 10% discount. Also get every discount code for national, United, airport parking, etc.

Email yourself any documents you might want. As soon as you announce you’re leaving won’t be able to email externally

If you ask to be NSI, you won’t be NSI. Just quit showing up at work because you are “working from home”, don’t answer your phone or emails, enjoy your last few weeks/months, in fact start your new job but don’t tell anyone. Then when you get NSI, take the PIL. Your coworkers will idolize you.

Once you get offer and decide to move on, tell your boss to nsi you in June/July and once nsied immediately take pil and leave. This way, you pocket 3 months additional pay and potentially saved a colleague from pip. You will be thanked and appreciated. Good luck!
