Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Is Low Carbon Solutions a good career move?

Rumor has it that LCS is great for your career; rumor also has it that there is an awful lot of dead wood there. What’s the truth? Is it an “opportunity“ in the Exxon sense of the word?

OP, it's a bad career move. You'll be used for PIP material. Also projects will be cancelled soon if they don't work out. Darren has already said this about hydrogen. Unless the government subsidizes us we are done. Also people are not buying EVs as expected. Too cr-ppy. So the Li business will suffer or get cancelled. Be ready to move to another career soon. LCS doesn't have a bright future. Good luck.

Tough work environment, cut throat competition. You are with hyper competitive folks, lot of egos, so be prepared for ranking to drop.

Some groups are over worked some under so be prepared. Work overall is exciting and challenging.

If you have a sponsor then it can be a good move.

No sponsor, then you might just end up as a PIP sacrifice for all those high flying sponsored people in LCS.

Also might get rough with several LCS projects getting cancelled.
