Cisco has sc--wed up storage many times. A still-born UCS disk blade, Whiptail SSD debacle, then hyperconverged Springpath got no market traction and died. Don't think a 4th time would work any different - so they stay the course partnering with Netapp, Pure, and Nutanix. I wouldn't be surprised if they look for a buyer for the whole UCS business, since it is out of place with network and security foundation.
Rubrik has a working product and solid reputation, why on earth would they want to associate themselves with Cisco?
