The RTO employee is the product. You drive, forced to live in a city, have to pay taxes, have to spend on xyz. If you’re 95% less productive than at home it doesn’t matter because every company is making more money off of you. Cars, clothes, food, government, real estate, insurance, time saving services, vacations. everyone is milking you more which makes you more valuable in a random building you don’t live in even if you don’t do any ‘work’ there you make many people a lot more money. This is what they would say if they were being truthful about the real reason for RTO.

If the stupid economy requires us to hurt ourselves to keep running, it needs to change - not us.
It’s why I refuse to buy lunch when at the office, I find the cheapest parking possible, and intentionally try to spend as little as I can when at the office. Inflation is high enough just to live and support a family. My money goes to shops, restaurants and gas stations near my home, as that helps MY community.
That is the truth. Forcing us to waste time and money to keep local economy going. Why must they lie about team work when most of us sit there with headphone on , while chatting on team?
It’s the economy, stupid. Wish CEO would just say that. Stop treating us like we are stupid
