Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Age discrimination

Many of the people I've seen let go were older and more experienced. If a team was split it looks like they kept all the younger people. Has anyone else noticed this pattern in their org?

Wait I'm a lead (grade 40) in marketing. Do you think a base salary of $150K is at risk of being cut because it's above average?

@lzb+1rdNYHE4 Sure but the cost to onboard and train someone with less experience is a sunk cost no one is measuring when comparing that one older person can likely do two younger less experienced peoples jobs with their eyes closed

It seems round 1 was focused on leadership, which skews heavily toward more experienced (and likely older). Round 2 will be rank and file, where newer/less experienced are more prevalent.

If it is just about dollar and cents, close down BATC. Did they do that? Last I heard, many of them survived.

In my team we lost 50% and it was pretty even between newer people and people who have been here 8+ years

Tenure and experience usually comes with higher salary, bonus and higher benefits costs. It su-ks to see long time Nike people get cut, but from a business perspective it could be cut that person or two newer people. Just my 2 cents.
