Is BATC shut down?

@izty The physical office has definitely been open for a while.
People who are part of the remote pilot are not required to return to the office despite the 4-1 mandate. This applies whether they live in the Bay Area, Portland, Boston, New York or anywhere else in the United States.
I assume people that were hired for the BATC office who are not part of the remote pilot are subject to the 4-1 mandate.
I understand that the remote pilot shield was pierced for VPs who have been told that they must relocate to WHQ and return to the office. But I don't think it's been pierced for lower levels yet. I believe those VPs were not part of the pilot but had special dispensations.
The physical office was never opened so in that sense BATC was “shut down”. But the employees who were linked to that location are still around and working remotely.
So while 4-1 is required of WHQ, these folks are exempt from that because there is no office to go to.
JD comes from Silicon Valley so perhaps in buys into the notion that the best engineering talent are there. But we didn’t attract FAANG talent. We attracted Kohls, a bottom tier retail company. Personally, working with the kohls people, they are among the most incompetent people I have worked with. I think they have to resort to shady politics and nepotism to protect their jobs. Real talent doesn’t require such stupid practices.
Muge’s email doesn’t mention about BATC. So, may be, it’s gone?
This wasn't about savings as much as it was MD consolidating power
Can someone tell me one thing that anyone out of the Bay Area did that would justify keeping these people on? I'll wait....
Many of the Bay Area leadership and rank-and-file survived. The Rat legacy and the Kohls crew lives on. After all the talk about cost savings, I don't understand this decision. These people were hired during the pandemic (most were hired in 2021), so it isn't as if they have institutional knowledge. Their salaries are through the roof, thanks to Kohls nepotism.
Yup - just went down there to lock the doors permanently and pick up the door mat.
