Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

Not good

After giving dozens of employees 1.5 years salary + bonus to voluntarily retire, Hertz does under the radar layoffs and sends out an email that everyone only gets 50% bonus and NO merit increases for anyone in the company.
While being paid +20% below fair value for our positions, we are refused any due promotions by HR, who gets bonus payouts dependent on keeping wages low. All while Hertz touts its stated goal of retaining talent.
This company has no organizational skills to speak of. Every initiative is constantly an urgent priority crisis with a short deadline, and far off completions dates. So much of this company functions through ad-hoc, person A messages person B on teams asking for things, with little to no overhead prioritization or communication.
Just like every other company, Hertz does not care about employees below SMG. The major difference is that Hertz doesn’t make much of a profit, and ‘doesn’t have money’ to pay its employees fairly.

Hertz is the worst company I have ever worked for. It’s sad and embarrassing to even say I work for Hertz. They don’t care about their employees, or the loyalty that people have shown by staying 15, 20, 30+ years. It’s sickening. We are overworked, underpaid, undervalued, unappreciated…..meanwhile the d-mb execs make d-mb decisions, tell us we don’t get a raise, then they get rewarded for the d-mb decisions. Absolutely ridiculous!

It’s actually disheartening to see a companies lack of care for their working employee’s. Hertz sacrifices those at the bottom of the ladder to benefit those higher up.

It also sends a disheartening message about our priorities and the value we place on our dedicated team members.

It’s clear to all of us who made these decisions with no remorse. They just need to come forward and be honest with those who have been with Hertz through the thick and thin. This continued behavior will just make loyal employees leave.

How about hiring SMG with millions in sign up bonus to then say that due to the state of the company there’s no money for merit increase. Simply stay put while inflation has been nonexistent and the price of food and shelter hasn’t skyrocketed these last 12 months. I find it truly disgusting and poor taste the same group who decides which positions to eliminate don’t have the courage to say it in the town hall meeting

I was basically told the same and if I was upset by the decision to voice my concerns in the upcoming employee survey.

Why are more people not upset by this? When I told my supervisor that I was upset they responded with "Be thankful you still have a job." I have already started applying to other companies.
