The situation has become unbearable lately. I'm so stressed out that even the weekends don't provide the respite they once did. And the closer we get to Monday, the more my anxiety shoots up. Are we ever going to exit this horrendous cycle and be able to work without the layoff-added stress?

I hope BT is enjoying the “change” in stock price lately. No, wait, not like that!!! No change! No change! 😂. They sure as he-l don’t seem to like that kind of change, now do they?
BT said in a town hall after the huge round of fall layoffs that "if you can't handle change this isn't the place for you". So that is senior leadership's level of sympathy for those of us that are stressed out.
Relax. It is not end of the world.
Dealing with layoff anxiety can be challenging, but there are strategies that can help you manage the stress and uncertainty. Here are some steps you can take:
- Separate Fact from Fiction: It’s important to distinguish between the realities of your situation and the fears that may not be based on facts. This can help reduce unnecessary stress.
- Take Constructive Action: Focus on proactive steps you can take, such as updating your resume, networking, or exploring new career opportunities.
- Deploy Defensive Pessimism: Prepare for the worst-case scenario to help alleviate anxiety by having a plan in place.
- Rally Your Resilience: Build up your resilience by focusing on your strengths and past successes. This can help you maintain a positive outlook.
- Invest in Self-Complexity: Develop and nurture different aspects of your identity beyond your job. This can include hobbies, volunteering, or learning new skills.
Hope this helps.
Unfortunately, the answer is likely NO. This is the way the company operates. It's Normal to them and the NEW Normal for all of us. They will always use layoffs as a method to decrease expenses to appear to increase shareholder value. You must keep in mind that this is no longer a healthcare company. It is not for the greater good. They are an acquisition company and therefore it is a perpetual circle of adding and subtracting.
We all feel your pain. In the end, the question to us individuals, is it worth our health, sanity, peace of mind and families to stay in this toxic, unethical environment, or is it in our own best interest for our sanity to cut our losses and move on for peace of mind. This is the overriding question we all need to ask ourselves.
Best of luck! It just ain't easy.
Same. I honestly would not expect it to get any better at this point in time. If at all. This appears to be the way it is at this company now, and I don’t see layoffs slowing down after the ongoing fiascos of cyberattacks and anti-trust. Looking outside the company at this time. Good luck all.
